SEN Teaching Assistant Required – Chard, Somerset

Teach Ltd is seeking a compassionate, dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs within a welcoming and supportive educational setting in the Chard area.

This rewarding opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs
Supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, learning difficulties and other identified needs
Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Encouraging pupil engagement, independence and positive behaviour
Supporting learning activities both inside and outside the classroom
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
Monitoring and recording pupil progress where required
Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate

Applicants should:

Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
Demonstrate patience, empathy and a positive attitude
Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
Be able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Have a flexible and proactive approach to supporting learning
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, health and social care or SEND support are desirable but not essential.
