SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Opportunity in Ely
Teach Ltd is currently recruiting for a resilient, supportive, and committed Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) setting or SEMH provision linked to a mainstream school in the Ely area on a full-time basis for the summer term.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or behaviour support practitioner who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them to engage in learning, regulate emotions, and build positive relationships.
The Role
Responsibilities may include:
• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Assisting teaching staff in delivering tailored learning activities
• Supporting behaviour regulation using positive behaviour strategies
• Building consistent and supportive relationships with pupils
• Encouraging engagement in learning and classroom routines
• Supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and social development
• Working in line with behaviour support plans and risk assessments
• Helping to maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment
The Ideal Candidate
Applicants should:
• Have experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a behaviour/SEMH support role
• Be confident working with children with additional behavioural or emotional needs
• Demonstrate resilience, patience, and emotional intelligence
• Be able to build strong and professional relationships with pupils and staff
• Work effectively as part of a team in a supportive setting
• Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
